Bournemouth University Lego Robotics | Highcliffe School

Bournemouth University Lego Robotics

30 students took part in the outreach work run by Bournemouth University, a buzz of excitement was in the air for the Lego Lab.

As the Bournemouth University undergraduates spoke to the class about the challenges they faced at University you could see the students itching to get their hands on the robots and start programming. Designing and building the robots to make them to move around a track, pick up and deposit objects in different places with real accuracy and care was a difficult task, given a standard kit the students had to consider the tasks and improvise, overcome and adapt to the challenges that awaited them.

The students worked solidly for the whole day only stopping to have some lunch and to listen to a short talk from the BU undergraduates about their courses, which were all in the technology industries.

Eventually all teams succeeded and the competition was over. The winning team received all kinds of goodies and the accolade of being the best roboticists Highcliffe School had that day.

A great day for all, Bournemouth University were very complimentary regarding the effort the students put in and the results they produced!

Thanks to everyone involved from Bournemouth University, the students and to Mr Luke for arranging the day.
